Just as we have the ambitious aims of achieving the very best for our young people, we seek to provide the very best professional opportunities for the professionals across our organisation. Severn Academies Educational Trust positions itself as an employer of choice, recognising that our people are at the centre of our culture to drive aspiration, enable growth and deliver excellence at every phase of provision.

In line with our staff Pledge, these values have shaped our arrangements for appraisal, talent management and professional development; creating conditions for people to thrive through access to rich opportunities for colleagues at all levels.

Our trust commitment to collaboration and togetherness across our schools means that staff feel they belong within SAET, as well as maintaining a close affinity to their home school.

Our schools are best placed to facilitate subject specific and pedagogical professional development for classroom based staff. The trust supports this by creating links and networks with local, regional and national education organisations such as Whole Education, Prince's Teaching Institute, Education Endowment Foundation, Youth Sport Trust and other multi-academy trusts. The trust also deploys its Trust Improvement Leaders (TIL) who are experts in their specialist areas, to work with staff on training, moderation, curriculum and innovative approaches across primary and secondary schools.

The trust central professional development offer this academic year is centred around leadership and coaching. We are providing both in-house and externally verified courses (National College, Masters via Birmingham City University & University of Birmingham) and programmes for aspiring leaders, pastoral leaders, associate staff leadership and coaching. Staff are also signposted to National Professional Qualifications and apprenticeships. As part of the trust’s digital strategy staff are supported to develop their digital literacy via the Google Educator programme which allows staff to develop mastery of a wide variety of Google edtech tools to enhance teaching and learning.

The trust CPD offer is accessible through its online CPD platform.
